Das WordCamp Deutschland findet dieses Jahr in einer Kleinstadt statt. Wir freuen uns, dass du dich auf den Weg machst. Vorab möchten wir noch ein paar Informationen mit dir teilen, die für deinen Aufenthalt in Gerolstein und Umgebung nützlich sein können.

Gerolstein ist ein beschauliches Städtchen mit ca. 8.000 Einwohnern. Also definitiv keine Großstadt. Dennoch ist für die Dinge des täglichen Lebens das meiste vorhanden.

Öffentlicher Nahverkehr innerorts

Gerolstein ist zwar an das Schienennetz der Deutschen Bahn angeschlossen, aber innerhalb des Ortes gibt es keine S-Bahn oder Busverbindungen, die euch durch den Ort bringen.

Plane also ein, dass du dir gegebenenfalls ein Taxi rufen musst, um von der Unterkunft zum Veranstaltungsort zu kommen und abends wieder zurück. 

Taxi Unternehmen

In Gerolstein sind drei kleine Taxi-Unternehmen ansässig. Nicht alle haben durchgehend Dienst.

Bitte beachte, dass es zeitweise dauern kann, bis das Taxi dich abholen kann. Plane mögliche Wartezeiten bitte ein.

Restaurants

Im Umfeld der Stadthalle Rondell gibt es einige Restaurants, die fußläufig erreichbar sind. Beachte bitte: Gerolstein ist ein beliebter Ferienort und derzeit sind Ferien in Rheinland-Pfalz sowie im Nachbarland Niederlande. Daher kann es sein, dass die Restaurants bereits gut besucht sind.

Die meisten Restaurants haben mittags zwischen 11.30 und 14 Uhr sowie abends von 17:00 bis maximal 22 Uhr geöffnet.

Bitte reserviere dir rechtzeitig einen Tisch, wenn du planst, am Abend auswärts essen zu gehen.

WordCamp Germany will take place in a small town this year. We are happy that you are on your way. First of all, we would like to share some information with you that may be useful for your stay in Gerolstein and the surrounding area.

Gerolstein is a tranquil little town with about 8,000 inhabitants. So it’s definitely not a big city. Nevertheless, most of the necessities of daily life are available.

Local public transport in the town

Gerolstein is connected to the Deutsche Bahn rail network, but there are no S-Bahn or bus connections within the town to take you around.

So plan on calling a taxi if necessary to get from your accommodation to the venue and back again in the evening.

Taxi companies

There are three small taxi companies in Gerolstein. Not all of them are on duty all the time.

  • Liske-Kaiser: +6591 212 – continuously – also at night

Please note that it may take some time before the taxi can pick you up. Please allow for possible waiting times.

Restaurants

There are several restaurants within walking distance of the Stadthalle Rondell. Please note: Gerolstein is a popular holiday resort and there are currently holidays in Rhineland-Palatinate and in the neighbouring country of the Netherlands. Therefore, it is possible that the restaurants are already well frequented.

Most restaurants are open for lunch between 11.30am and 2pm and for dinner from 5pm to 10pm maximum.

Please book a table in advance if you plan to eat out in the evening.
